Between this and the Waller crop cardigan, Madewell is ALMOST there for the 5'8" or taller crowd. This Greywood sweater doesn't have the strange balloon sleeves like the Waller cardigan but it was even shorter than the Waller cardigan showing a lot of skin even with higher-rise pants on. Also the body of the sweater tapered in at the bottom or could be considered a banded bottom I guess. When buttoned it was a lot tighter at the bottom giving it a volume/tucked in look. So, if Greywood and Waller have a baby - best cropped cardi ever! (Greywood sleeves + Waller length and body = Golden).

This sweater is beautiful - the colors, the texture, the feel, the quality. Sadly the balloon sleeve was so exaggerated on me that, with the cropped length, it seemed to add 10 pounds. It made everything so wide looking. I tried to rationalize keeping it but I knew the sleeves would never relax to lay flatter. Madewell, please make this cardigan with more normal sleeves and it's a keeper!

I have quite a collection of leggings and am not really loyal to one brand - each have their strengths and weaknesses. I decided to give MWL a try and was pleasantly surprised! I purchased all three colors and am keeping Kale in size medium. Oddly, this color is versatile and more of a neutral than I expected. Blue was nice but showed too many bumps and didn't seem to go with as much.
Quality speaking, these are a nice, thick material yet still pretty soft and they are not see-through. They do make a noise when my thighs rub a little but that's not a deal breaker for me. Unlike others, mine are not rolling or sliding down but I didn't buy these primarily for working out (my workout leggings still need pockets for running). I did do a few sun salutations in them and they still stayed put. And, they can be dressed up! Overall, I am really liking them so far and may come back for the black. For reference I'm 5'8" and 150 pounds.

The style, color and quality were exactly what I wanted and this is a very nice necklace. But, I believe this style would look better in a longer length - around 20-24" would be great for wearing alone or layering with my other 16" Madewell chains. I just didn't need another short brass necklace so this one went back. If this style is offered longer in the future, I'll be sure to scoop it up.

So glad I stumbled across the full length Huston pant because it's so good! Polished, substantial fabric that can be dressed up or down. Doesn't wrinkle when packed in my luggage and they are comfortable and stretchy. True to size and a nice length for flats or heels. For reference, I got a medium and I'm 150 pounds, 5'8" and they do touch the floor a tiny bit without shoes on.

I was a bit disappointed with these. First, mine appeared to be a completely different color. Destruction was off, color was much lighter than shown and whiskering wasn't there. Also, they were 2 sizes too large and were not flattering on me. Guess this mom can't wear these mom shorts!

I have this in grey and love it but wished they carried a nude/blush color. Now they do!!! These are so comfy and give enough coverage to be an everyday bra. I wear mine to work and lounging on the weekend. It fits true to size for me (36B and got the medium). My only wish was that the straps were a little more substantial. They are a little thin and a slightly wider strap would give more lift and make the girls feel more secure!

I got this in my normal medium, which has never changed my entire adult life with swimwear, regardless of brand or style. I'm a 36B and this thing barely covered my boobs (hello, nip slip!). Very small. I'm hoping to try a Large as the color and style are great, but everything is sold out. Still not sure that will work though - it is pretty tiny.

The style, heel height and English Saddle color are perfect on this boot and it can be worn with so many different outfits - dressed up or down. I've only worn them a handful of times but they are relatively comfortable and though a few scuffs have appeared easily, they seem like they'll hold up in the long run. As far as sizing, they do run pretty narrow. I'm a size 10 and had to get the 11 in order to wear any type of sock. Thankfully, the length didn't get too long and I don't feel like I'll trip on them. But, even with sizing up a full size, they do pinch my pinkie toes a little still and I don't have wide feet. I'm hopeful they will stretch out with time, but, even if not, they aren't painful so far. Just narrower than I'd prefer. Overall, would recommend.

This top is gorgeous! The pattern and style are flattering and so feminine. It also seems to be good quality but has only been worn once and not laundered yet. I'm hopeful it will hold up and remain looking great because this will be on repeat in my wardrobe. For reference, 5'8" and 145 pounds. Athletic build, 36B bra with broader shoulders. Purchased size M and it fits well. Doesn't pull at the chest (like some other Madewell button ups on me) but the shoulders are a touch tight.

This cami is dreamy! The fabric and colors are classics. And, the buttons are such a nice addition. Every time I've worn it, I get lots of compliments. Pairs well with blazers, skirts, jeans and can be dressed up or down. This will get lots of wear over the years. I wanted a roomier fit like shown on the model, so I sized up 2 sizes. The bottom of the shirt does hit me right at the widest part of my hip (I'm 5'8") so I'm glad I sized up because it would have felt too tight around the hip area if not.

I really liked this shirt - the fit and thickness of it. And, the fact that it would mostly cover my butt if worn with leggings. But, the color was definitely not as pictured on the model or in the product detail image. In both, you see some lighter areas/distressing on the pockets, shoulders, etc. to give it a more broken in look. When I got my shirt, there was no "lived-in" look at all. It was one monochromatic color. That's not what I was going for so I returned. Perhaps, the next version will be as pictured on the site.

This slide has a really cool stamped pattern that makes it stand out a little more than other slip-ons I've seen. The blue color is really nice and not too "made-of-denim" looking. The toe shape is comfortable and the slide stays on when I walk - all musts for this type of shoe style. And, it can be dressed up or down. I got quite a few compliments when wearing. I tried both my normal size 10 and the next size up, an 11, because I heard they ran small. My feet were hanging off the 10 a little and the 11 didn't get too wide so I kept that one and it's perfect!

This is a great piece - the cut, style and the addition of the buttons. But, when I tried it on and boiled it down to a true staple piece for years to come or a passing trend, it didn't make the cut. If it were actually offered in more classic colors (black, slate blue, grey) or prints like stripes or dots - AND was made of silk instead of viscose - then I'd feel better about the investment for it.

The print, beautiful. The drape is nice and fabric is high quality. But, because my size was out, I ordered a large. It was HUGE on me. I'm normally a medium and I probably could have taken a small. But, the amount of fabric for the legs was too overwhelming on my self-proclaimed "chicken legs." I just don't think the wide, flowy leg will work for me. But, on the model, it looks amazing!

My only complaint with the few pairs of pull on style shorts from Madewell is that they seem to have more material than necessary in the front area. They always get baggy under the waistband making the lower abdomen look a little larger. Maybe I'll size down next time and see if that's still an issue.

About a year ago I purchased the canvas drawstring version of this bag (convertible backpack I believe they called it). It was good, but not great. Good size, cute, well made. But, the straps were SO thin it felt like they weren't going to hold up in the long run.
Enter, the Somerset backpack! Same size, same material, same great quality but now the straps are almost 3x wider! This will be used daily as a purse and is stylish when carrying more items on day trips like when we camp. Holds my large wallet, sunglass case, phone, lip stick and other makeup essentials, tissues, lotion, other personal items and keys. Still plenty of room for a water bottle and light cardigan.

The rise, wash and destruction on these is great. They're also very comfortable. I did have to size down one after trying my normal 28. Depending on how much they stretch, I may have been able to go down two sizes. The only thing I don't love 100% is the raw hem. Not a deal breaker but I wasn't looking for anything beyond knee rips. Makes them a little harder to dress up.

Unusually tight legs

The quality and thickness of denim seemed great and I think the waist, my normal size 28, would have fit. Unfortunately, I couldn't get them up over my legs to actually try them on. And I've been called "chicken legs" on more than one occasion. I do have athletic thighs but have never been unable to pull a pair of jeans on to properly try them on.
Also, the calf area looked like it bowed out (from the knee down), then tapered at the ankles. It didn't seem like it was cut straight down or skinny to hug the calves.
Next time I make the hour and a half drive to my nearest store, I'll try a size up if available. But I fear the waist would get too big when the cotton stretches as 100% cotton tends to do.
I decided to return these and keep my Madewell slim boy jean, destroyed edition instead.

This is a good quality, per usual Madewell brass jewelry. And though I loved the look of it (and give 4 stars for style and 4 stars for quality), I had to send it back. It was just too delicate and you really couldn't see it on my paler skin. Also, in the short time I had it on, the "looped" section kept tangling into itself so it never looked like it had two chains on one side.
For the price, style and quality, it's a good necklace, but it wasn't what I was hoping for.

I have always eyeballed the courier shirts at Madewell but when I got one in the summer (button back poplin) and it didn't look good nor fit well (particularly in the arms), I returned it and figured it just wasn't a style that suits me. But then, this! So glad I gave another courier a try. This one is so cozy, fits well and looks great! I wanted to love this, but first I was upset that there were no slits on the sleeve as shown on the model (FYI Madewell, this is the 2nd order in the last two months that had items not as described on your site). Then, once on, it was frumpy and boxy on me. Not flattering at all. Also, too short for my 5'8" frame. Finally, the buttons were a pain to undo and redo, and though, a nice, thick material, the shoulder didn't really drape well when unbuttoned. Overall disappointed with this one. Sent back.

Cute and comfy with a little whimsy. The cut is nice for having a cute peek of bralette showing since the arm holes are a little lower. It's a little cropped but it goes well with high waisted items. I'll be wearing this for sure on my next out of town jaunt!

I've gotten a lot of compliments on this ring since purchasing and wear it pretty regularly with other brass jewelry. It goes with everything and is really cute. My only beef is that the sizing only went to an 8 (all Madewell rings?; I didn't see anything larger on any ring options). I don't like my rings snug because once warmed up from typing all day, they feel puffy and uncomfortable. Also, due to the width of the ring, I find I have to take it off throughout the day to air out my finger (somewhat sweaty).
The 8 does fit on my forefinger and middle finger but it's best on my ring finger. Hopefully in the winter, my fingers will feel smaller and it will fit nicely on the other fingers too since it looks better. And, it would be great if Madewell made larger ring sizes because this would look really cool on the thumb (no chance for me at size 8!).
Overall, something I will continue to wear for years to come - just a few "next season" recommendations/requests please! :)

Was really excited Madewell was offering a LONG locket necklace for once. The mix of Sterling and bronze is very nice and the quality is great as typical with most Madewell jewelry. But, the chain is not 26" nor does it hit anywhere near were it does in the mannequin photo. I measured it and it's 20" and hit me just under my collarbone. Called customer service thinking perhaps I got a shorter chain somehow. After some research I was called back to inform me the site specs are indeed incorrect and the necklace measures 20." Not what I wanted or expected so it will go back. The bronze is really shiny/reflective also, which was amplified in my eyes because of its shorter length and where it hit on my chest.

I love everything about this shirt - beautiful drape, nice pattern, bell sleeves and versatile. But, I have to send it back. The buttons must be placed differently than other button-ups or it's the style but it pulls very badly on me. My normal medium fit me well everywhere except the chest (5'8", 145# and 34B). Even with my arms down the chest buttons were pulling so much so that skin and bra were showing. Thought ordering a large would help but it didn't - still pulling enough that I'd have to wear a cami under it and leave the top three to four buttons undone. Pretty much limits the versatility then, especially for the price. On the right person, this will be flattering.

This bag is sturdy, a great neutral color, perfect for toting around the essentials and a light cardigan or jacket and keeps my hands free. It will get lots of use.
My only complaint or concern is the straps are a bit too thin/not wide enough. They almost seem out of proportion for the bag. That's the one piece of this bag that doesn't feel as substantial. I hope they'll hold up after frequent use.

I tried this on in store and though my normal medium fit and looked good, the buttons pulled at my chest a little more than I preferred (like always due to my broad shoulders). But I liked the style so much that I tried the large. It wasn't too much less fitted and didn't pull as much. The material is light but feels substantial and it's not too sheer. It is a little short but I pair it with my high waisted jeans and skirts. Love the added detail with the tie-back! For reference I'm 5'8, 150 pounds and normally wear medium tops.

These are well made, very comfortable and soft. I also like that they aren't a super short inseam so they don't creep up my leg when sleeping (for reference I'm 5'8" 150 pounds and got medium). Be warned that they do stretch quite a bit the more they're worn, especially in the legs. I haven't washed them yet so I'm not sure how they'll fare from there. Also, the buttons are not functional but I'm okay with that. Overall, happy with my purchase.

After trying the full-price cropped cruiser straight and discovering they were almost 3 sizes too large and not quite worth the price, I was hesitant to buy the 28 (my normal size) Lana cruiser. But they were on sale and I liked the vintage crop style so I gave it a try figuring I'd have to use my Madewell Insider free hemming since these were a longer inseam than the full price version.
Surprisingly, these were slightly smaller feeling but I think it's because they have more cotton. They feel premium - not too stretchy - and they make my butt look good. Best of all, they are still cropped looking on me. Perhaps it's because they're smaller/tighter but they hit about 3 inches above my ankle bone. I'm 5'8" and 150 pounds and the high waist hits me at my belly button.

Really like the idea behind this jean - comfy, vintage and a welcomed break from skinnies. But, I'm not sure I pull it off as well as I'd hoped. With heels, they're polished and hit at the right spot to not simply look like high waters on me. With tennis shoes, I don't look nearly as cool as shown online. I think I just need a 1/2"-1" taken off the hem and it may work. Just not sure it's worth full price yet. But, if you do order, size down 2 sizes. These are huge. I'm 5'8, 145 pounds and take a 28/6 consistently but got a 27. Could do the 26 if I weren't 10 pounds heavier than my norm.

I really like this necklace. Cute, simple style that's great for everyday wear. It's built well and has some weight to it - not cheap feeling. I also like that it's adjustable to a longer length. But, I do notice that when worn at its longest length, the chain tends to move, shifting the bar to the side of my neck and the clasp down to my chest. I believe this is because the chain and clasp are a bit heavier. Other than that minor issue, very pleased with this staple piece!

This is a really nice locket and seems very well built. I also loved the unique toggle closure instead of a lobster clasp. But, like others commented, I wasn't thrilled that it had an engraving on one side. I probably could have lived with that but I also prefer a longer chain (more like 20") so it hits past my collarbone. Finally, the space to put a keepsake is pretty minimal with the way the locket opens/closes and I fully intended this to be functional so no luck there either.
Based on all the above (and final cost) I chose to return it.

I was worried since I got this during the "final sale/no return" period but the fit is true to my normal medium and the drape doesn't make me look heavier than normal like some Madewell tops do with the high/low hem.
The fabric seems to be substantial enough and it's comfortable to wear. I really like the top and recommend it.
My only complaint is like others have said, the zipper is a bit heavy for the silk so it weighs the back down and pulls the neck up higher than I'd like. Nothing that would make me reconsider, especially since I got it at nearly half the price.
